About the Event

Generative AI is rapidly transforming corporate boardrooms, prompting both excitement and concern among directors. Drawing on the latest Director Confidence Index and Diligent Institute research, this session will explore how U.S. public company directors are adopting AI, the strategic opportunities they see, and the key governance challenges that have emerged.


We’ll discuss the evolution from cautious experimentation with AI to regular use, with two-thirds of directors employing AI tools for board tasks such as meeting preparation, intelligence summarization, and benchmarking. Special attention will be given to how open-source platforms like ChatGPT and Gemini are driving uptake, but also introducing significant legal and confidentiality risks.


Expert commentary will unpack why boardroom adoption of AI has outpaced formal oversight: only 22% of boards have enacted formal AI governance or risk policies, and many directors feel they still need more education on emerging threats.
