About
Me.

Name: Barbara Lockwood

Organization: Retired Energy Executive

As a female business leader for more than 30 years, I have consistently made empowering women a central part of my responsibility. I have actively promoted, advocated for and sponsored women creating space and opportunity for them to thrive. Driving diversity in leadership makes every organization stronger. Sharing my talents and expertise with women, helping them grow personally and professionally, is a passion for me. Since I retired in 2022, I am focused exclusively on programs and projects in just two areas that I have passion for - empowering women and climate solutions.

Throughout my business career, I established myself as an accomplished leader and strategic thinker. Most recently, I served as Senior Vice President of Public Policy for Arizona Public Service (APS). APS is the principal subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corporation, a Fortune 1000 energy holding company based in Phoenix, Arizona with consolidated assets of approximately $23 billion USD. My extensive business expertise includes regulatory and political strategy, clean energy technology, customer programs, ESG strategy and investment, corporate philanthropy, and stakeholder engagement and negotiations. The many years I spent in the energy business also formed my deep passion for clean energy and climate solutions.

In addition, I have extensive community leadership experience having served on more than a dozen non-profit boards including as Board Chair for two organizations, Treasurer for another organization and am currently serving as Chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee for the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute for American Democracy. I have also served on advisory boards for US national organizations including the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and chaired the State Regulatory Affairs committee for the Edison Electric Institute. I am a recognized expert in governance for non-profits organizations.
