Every woman has an instance in her childhood where her voice was ignored. Maybe she was told to be seen and not heard, maybe she was looked over in class to speak, or maybe she was told to take up less space. This cultural bias against women’s voices needs to be put to an end, and it starts with us supporting one another and speaking up to affirm another woman and make her voice heard. This week’s episode 130 of How Women Inspire Podcast is about the third tenet of the How Women Lead Credo: reinforcing other women’s voices when they speak up!
In this episode of How Women Inspire Podcast, Julie Castro Abrams shares the importance of supporting other women when they speak and actionable steps you can take right now to open opportunities for women’s voices to be heard.
Some of the talking points Julie goes over in this episode include:
Women being ignored is a cultural problem, not an isolated incident.
How Harvard Business School documented gender bias that kept women from reaping the full benefits of attending the school.
All women have been told to be seen and not heard as children, and this carries over well into adulthood.
Steps we can take to open doors and create opportunities for ourselves and the women around us.
