A business leader with over 24 years of experience in strategy, leadership and portfolio management in the financial services and FMCG industries, after having started her banking career through a Learnership Programme. Her long corporate career was altered when she followed her entrepreneurial and dealmaker dreams. She pursued investment opportunities in mining, renewable energy, commodities trading and distribution, and still keeps active in the women and youth empowerment platforms in Africa as A Director at Women in Trade Africa.

Mpume sits on a number of Boards which include Richards Bay Coal Terminal, Junior Achievement South Africa which focuses on youth entrepreneurship trainign at high school and tertiary levels. Her former roles include being 1st Vice President and Board Member of Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry. and Regional Chairperson of Businesswomen's Association of South Africa.

Mpume holds a number qualifications in Finance, Marketing and Executive Leadership from various institutions.

Mpume is a member of the United States of America founded Women Leaders of the World 2019 Programme Fellowship based in San Francisco Silicon Valley, which is made up of over a thousand women Leaders from all parts of the world.

Mpume’s most treasured role is that of being a mother to two teenagers whom she learns the most from.
