About
Me.
As an advocate, former CEO, and author, I am passionate about women’s philanthropy. Sharing my talents and knowledge to help girls and women around the world is a personal and professional mission. I am a seasoned fundraiser and have successfully helped many nonprofits grow their resources and connections in the U.S. and internationally. I recently published a book, Generosity and Gender, that is the winner of the 2024 AFP Foundation/Skystone Partners Prize for Research.
My consulting practice focuses on strategic planning, fundraising, and board development. I have more than 35 years of experience in nonprofit management and fundraising. Throughout my career I have raised more than $125 million through annual, corporate, and endowment giving. As a United Way CEO I launched women philanthropy programs in the U.S. I have consulted with small grassroots organizations and developed relationships with major foundations. Recently, I have expanded my practice to include international organizations, including the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library and WomenStrong International. WomenStrong focuses on health, education, safety, and economic opportunities in the global south.
Through the Association of Fundraising Professionals and my consulting practice, I have mentored young professionals, helped fund development staff increase revenue, and advised organizational leaders on an array of possible solutions to the ongoing issues of equity, health, climate, and education in local communities. My research into social impact and gender lens investing has broadened my knowledge of opportunities to match donors with entrepreneurial programs across the globe. When women succeed, we all succeed and grow.
