Elizabeth Conlisk

About
Me.

Elizabeth Conlisk is a board member specializing in the oversight of communications, crisis management and growth marketing. She has launched and scaled a successful TV sports network, managed real crises without losing sales or reputation, and transformed organizational cultures.

She has advised executives on how to craft and deliver transformative strategies that resonate with key audiences, drive growth and lead to organizational change. Her experience aligning corporate vision, strategy, and communications positions her as a valuable advisor for boards in the sports, beer and higher education spaces looking to leverage media and public affairs to seize new opportunities.

During her decade working at Miller Brewing Company, she led sales meetings to introduce several beer brands, including Miller Genuine Draft, which created an entire new beer category for the company to market. Additionally she led the company’s response to a major corporate crisis, a boycott of Miller Lite in the LGBTQ community. The boycott ended quietly without the loss of either sales or reputation.

Elizabeth has navigated high-stakes challenges with strategic precision. As a core leader launching the Big Ten Network (BTN), she crafted a strategy that accounted for the unique characteristics of eight Big Ten states while leveraging passionate fan bases. Network demand resulted in long-term cable and satellite agreements — and profitability within two years of launch, a rarity among new networks. BTN became the first successful conference-owned network.

As chief media spokesperson at Ohio State, she led communications and managed multiple university and athletics crises, including strikes, coach firings and an allegation of academic misconduct that commanded national attention for months.

As a board director, Elizabeth focuses on growth, transformation and risk. She is skilled at leading discussions on innovative communications and marketing strategies, delivering messages to critical audiences and expanding markets to increase profits.

Elizabeth’s background highlights effectiveness as an independent board director, emphasizing collaborative approaches, rigorous processes and accountability. Her facility at navigating complex issues, making informed decisions, and fostering high-performing cultures positions her as an invaluable asset in strategic decision-making and risk management.

She currently serves as a Chicago Board Member for the Positive Coaching Alliance and for the Buckeye Leadership Fellows at The Ohio State University in Columbus. Both organizations foster positive and transformative experiences for students and athletes.

A lifelong learner, she attended Harvard University recently to earn a Masters in Public Administration.
