Cathy Skala, NACD.DC is an Independent Board Director with extensive healthcare experience as a global executive transforming companies with revenue growth, cost reductions and digital initiatives.

Cathy takes a vision and makes it reality through practical strategy development. She intuitively sees the connections of opportunity that exist in an organization, brings them together into a coherent picture, helping others to see, think, and act driving substantial growth and improving operating margins. She is an expert in leading companies through restructurings, mergers, divestitures, and business transformations, focusing specifically on the cultural differences between global requirements and local realities.

With over 25 years in the healthcare industry, including Abbott, Hospira (now Pfizer) and Baxter, she is an inspirational leader and a passionate storyteller who believes that the reason people come to work for a healthcare company is to serve the patient. Cathy champions the power of diversity with unshakable optimism to best serve those patients.

Cathy also has 10 plus years of experience in the software industry and corporate IT function. She is respected as a credible voice ensuring digital technology is adopted by the company for its true benefits. Cathy enjoys supporting community projects and sharing her experience with noteworthy charities in the healthcare and arts sector. In her nine years on the Board of Directors of the Snow City Arts Foundation, including serving as President, Cathy enabled artists to inspire and educate children living with illness in the hospital system. Through astute financial guidance and business acumen, she was able to maximize the potential of the organization and enable them to achieve ambitious goals.

Cathy graduated Magna Cum Laude with both her BS and MBA degrees. She is a former winner of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) ACE Award and is the recipient of the HBA 2019 Luminary Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the healthcare industry.
